Evelyn Jensen, 94, a resident of Fergus Falls, formerly of Underwood, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Haven Manor Adult Foster Care Home in Fergus Falls. She was born February 1, 1916, in Dent, the daughter of Paul and Ida (Hawley) Schmidt. She grew up and attended school in Dent. On March 10, 1937, she married Erwin Jensen in Perham. They made their home in rural Underwood and soon moved into town. Evelyn was the head cook at the Underwood School system from 1959-1979. She also cooked a number of years at Inspiration Point Bible Camp. Evelyn was a lifetime member of Royal Neighbors of America, a member of Sverdrup Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She enjoyed her family picnics and holidays, crocheting, gardening, reading, sewing, and baking dozens of cookies to give away. Preceding her in death were her husband, Erwin; her parents; brothers, Kenneth and V. C. Schmidt; sisters, Irene Loerzel and Pauline Lillis. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Jensen of Underwood; two sons, Richard (LuAnn) of LaVerne, CA and Wayne (Carrie) of Underwood; grandchildren, Kari Reed, Laurie Ray, Tim (Cammy) Henderson, Kathy (John) Jensen-Curl, Keith (Amy) Jensen, Kristen (Dave) Shapiro, Derek and Ryan Jensen; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Michael and Timothy Lake, Anna, Kati, and Matthew Reed, Ricky Curl, Alena, Annika and Dane Jensen and Blake and Ryan Shapiro; a sister, Catherine Scott; sisters-in-law, Mavis Johnsen and Harriet Jensen; numerous nieces and nephews and a former son-in-law, Ronald Henderson.
