Evelyn Asleson

Evelyn Mabel Bernice (Kronemann) Asleson, 91, of Fergus Falls, formerly of Wendell, passed away peacefully early Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Lake Region Health Care in Fergus Falls. She was born March 26, 1920 near Fergus Falls, MN to Max Sr. and Wilhelmine (Holthusen) Kronemann, one of thirteen children. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls. In 1938 she graduated from Fergus Falls High School. On January 12, 1939 Evelyn married Waldemar L. Asleson. The couple spent most of their married life farming the Asleson Century Farm in Stony Brook Township, Grant County. In 1993 they moved to Wendell. She remained there after Waldemar’s death in 2002 until moving to Fergus Falls in 2008 to live with her granddaughter. Evelyn loved “digging in the dirt” and had beautiful flower beds. She also enjoyed feeding the birds, making caramel rolls, cookies, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of Rock Prairie Lutheran Church where she served as Sunday School teacher and superintendent, sang in the choir, and was active in Ladies Aid. She is survived by four children: Richard (Marcene) of Rogers, MN, Cynthia (Gary) Erickson of Dalton, Margaret (Michael) Holte of Wendell, and Mark (Ginger) of Wendell; nine grandchildren, Wendy (Steve) Stephens of Fergus Falls, Randy (Denise) Erickson of Barnesville, Rebecca (Steve) Lacey of Blair, NE, David (Karen) Holte of Wendell, Diahann (David) Schaefer of Glasgow, MO, Wes (Shannon) Asleson of Buffalo, MN, Dan Asleson of Minneapolis, Blaine and Andrew Asleson of Wendell; 15 great-grandchildren, Rachel, Nathanael, Lydia, Byron (Robin), and Yvonne Stephens, and Nancy (Stephens) Goodell, Peder, Elizabeth, and Abigail Erickson, Madeline and Kate Lacey, Kyle (Amy) Weets, Kerby Weets (fiancèe Jacki Meyer, William and Blaire), Samuel and Benjamin Asleson; and great-great-grandchildren: Kellie and Maryann Goodell, and Kinsey and Zachary Stephens. Surviving siblings are Freida Miller, Ethyl (Phillip) Thompson, Irene Eckley, Kenneth (Mary Ann) Kronemann and sister-in-law Hazel Kronemann and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were: her husband Waldemar; great-grandson Luke Stephens; sisters and their husbands, Ruth and Conrad Peterson, Esther and Herbert Schroeder, Emma and Elwin Peterson and Harry Lundell; brothers and their wives, Max and Sylvia Kronemann, Art and Lucy Kronemann, Herb Kronemann; brothers-in-law Merton Asleson, Harold Miller and Allan Eckley; and two brothers who died in early childhood, Waldemar and Edmund Kronemann.
