Eugene Boe

Eugene Leslie Boe, 73, a resident of rural Dalton, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at his home under the care of his family and Lakeland Hospice.  He was born April 5, 1936, in St. Olaf Township of Otter Tail County, the son of Alford and Nina (Sivertson) Boe. Eugene was born on the family farm where he lived his entire life.   He attended country school at District #9, and graduated from Ashby High School in 1954. He was confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dalton, where he was a lifelong member.  From 1955 – 1961 he was a member of the National Guard. On June 20, 1964, he married Patricia Langsjoen at Our Savior’s Church in Dalton, and they made their home on the farm. He was a dairyman for 33 years, and then sold the cows and raised crops and beef cattle. In 2002 the operation was turned over to his son, Scott. Eugene was a collector, especially of cars and tractors. He could fix most anything. He loved auctions and farming, and looked forward to spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Dalton Lions Club, a former member of the Dalton Gophers 4-H Club, and had formerly served on the church council at Our Savior’s-Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Duane; and a son, Troy. Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of rural Dalton; a daughter, Rhonda (Philip) Hennen of Minnetrista, MN; two sons: Scott Boe of Dalton, and Trevor Boe of Fergus Falls; three grandchildren: Nicole, Zack, and Connor; a niece, Lisa (Tim) Stenzel; and three nephews: Kevin (Georgi) Boe, Terry (Dawn) Boe, and Todd Boe and their families.
