Ethel Jeanette (Jacobson) Kaasa, 92, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at her home.
She was born April 25, 1923, in Fergus Falls, the third of four daughters born to Jacob O. and Ella (Mortenson) Jacobson. She grew up in Fergus Falls, graduating from Fergus Falls High School.
On July 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to Lorain C. Kaasa at the First Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls. They lived in Fergus Falls until 1965 when they moved to Aurdal Township where they established a dairy farm. Ethel was Catalog Department Manager at J. C. Penney Co, retiring after 23 years of service.
Ethel was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church, active in Ladies Aide, Bible Study and Altar Guild. She was a mother involved with PTA, Cub Scouts, Blue Birds and 4-H. She enjoyed homemakers club, sewing club, snowmobiling, bridge and family gatherings. She was an accomplished seamstress and an expert at needle craft. Her last years were spent as a respected and loved member of the Park Gardens community.
Preceding her in death were her husband and her sisters, Marian Nelson, Pearl Thompson and Virginia Grewe.
Survivors include her children, Micheal (Eldora) of Fort Smith, AR, Susan (Paul Pennington) of White Salmon, WA, Douglas (Bonnie) of Detroit Lakes and Dale (Marcia) of Shoreview; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
