Ervin Eugene Emery passed away on August 15, 2019, at the age of 81, at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Lake Park, MN.
Ervin was born December 17, 1937 at his home in Friberg Township to Lawrence and Tillie (Stensrud) Emery. He attended country school through the 8th grade, but had to quit to help on the family farm. He joined the National Guard in 1956, and served eight years. On June 9, 1963, he married Linda Stender. Together they raised four children. They resided in Edwards, MN, in a house which Ervin helped build.
Ervin was employed at West Central Turkeys for 45 years. He retired as a plant engineer. Aside from the plant, he also had a hobby farm where he raised sheep, cut wood, trapped and sheared sheep. Some hobbies included playing cards, playing guitar and doing puzzles.
Ervin loved spending time with his family, mainly his grandchildren. He loved taking them fishing, trapping, hunting and especially bear hunting up north.
Ervin was involved in the 4th of July parade in Erhard for many years, played Santa Claus at West Central Turkeys, volunteered for many events at work and was an active member at Tonseth Lutheran Church.
Ervin is survived by his wife, Linda of 56 years; four children, Scott (Laurie) Emery, Lori (Todd) Lofgren, Lisa Emery and Kevin (Vicki) Emery all of Erhard, MN; 13 grandchildren, Shawntel, Dylan, Christopher, Casey, Molly, Mariah (Scott), Matt, Josh (Lori), Sarah, Jacob (Lisa), Amanda, Justin, Jessica (Kevin); nine great-grandchildren with one on the way; three siblings, Robert (Elsie) Emery, Gary (Nancy) Emery and Sylvia Dutcher and many nieces and nephews.
Ervin is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Tillie Emery; niece, Debbie Emery and brother-in-law, Wayne Neu.
Visitation: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the Church.
Service: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Tonseth Lutheran Church, Erhard
