Errol W. Kugler, 72, a resident of rural Erhard, died Sunday, November 18, 2012, at the Lake Region Hospital.
He was born on April 10, 1940 in Fergus Falls, the son of Marvin and Gladys (Davidson) Kugler. He grew up in Section 11, Friberg Township, where he lived his entire life. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and attended school in Friberg Township and Fergus Falls High School.
On January 25, 1958 he married JoAnn Budke at Tonseth Lutheran Church, making their home in Friberg Township where he farmed all of his life. Through the years he worked as a truck driver and equipment operator for French Alfalfa, Donovan Olson Trucking and Central Bi-Products. In 1969 he started Kugler Construction and then in 1980 he established Kugler Salvage.
He was a member of Maine Presbyterian Church. He also served on the Motor Patrol for Friberg Township. He loved to play cards and travel. He thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent on his hunting land and fishing. His most treasured time was spent camping and sharing “Gator” rides with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his father, Marvin, who died on September 29, 2012 and JoAnn’s siblings, Marcella Budke, Jerry Budke, Ann (Jim) Hasbargen, Myrtle Keller, Roy Budke.
Survivors include his mother, Gladys of Erhard; his wife, JoAnn of Erhard; three sons, Greg (Julie) of Erhard, Rick of Underwood, Joel (Patsi) Kugler of Erhard; nine grandchildren, Mandy (Kyle) Rich, Crystal (Matthew) Hoekstra, John (Nikki) Kugler, Jessica (Matt) Fowler, Lindsay (Joe) Hauer, Matthew (Lindsey) Kugler, Ashley (Chase) Lee, Lauryn (fiancée Jake Christensen) Kugler, Aaron Kugler; 15 great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Kale and Ella Rich, Madison and Maggie Hoekstra, Austin Kugler, Ava and Brody Fowler, Evan, Hailey and Eli Hauer, Gracyn and Ricky Kugler, Sophia and Rylan Lee; three siblings, Gary (Ruthy) Kugler, Brenda (Larry) Peasley and Phil (Lori) Kugler all of Erhard. Also surviving are JoAnn’s siblings, Donald (Kathy) Budke, Mervin (Ervena) Budke, Rose Mary (Donald) Rasmusson, Renèe Budke, Cyril Keller, Mavis Budke and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church, rural Underwood
