Emma Lundell

Emma Peterson Lundell, 94, of Fergus Falls, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 while residing at Mill Street Residence. Emma was born on September 30, 1914 in Fergus Falls Township to Max and Wilhelmina Kronemann. She attended rural grade school at District 92 in Fergus Falls Township and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1933.   She worked prior to her marriage as a nanny for the Tom Wright family of Fergus Falls. On June 8, 1938, she married Elwin “Avie” Peterson of Fergus Falls and they spent their married lives dairy farming in Buse and Fergus Falls townships. Together they took great pleasure in large vegetable gardens, fruit trees, grapes and berries. Emma also enjoyed tending and cutting flowers from her many flower gardens.   During her married years she was active in the Fergus Homemakers group, card club, Fergus 4-H club and District 92 PTA. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, singing in its choir in the 30's, teaching Sunday School, and participating in the activities of Circle and Ladies Aid. She particularly treasured her years on the Altar Guild and quilting with the quilt group.  Her husband Elwin died in 1982.  On October 11, 1986, Emma married Harry Lundell of Fergus Falls. They shared 13 years together, traveling and actively supporting the activities at First Lutheran Church and the Fergus Falls Senior Center.  Emma is preceded in death by her parents, Max and Minnie Kronemann, two young brothers, Edmund and Waldemar, adult brothers, Maximillian Jr. (Sylvia) , Herbert, and Arthur (Lucille); sisters, Ruth (Conrad ) Peterson, and Esther (Herbert) Schroeder, all of Fergus Falls; brothers-in-law Walt Asleson, Merton Asleson and Harold Miller; and her husbands, Elwin Peterson and Harry Lundell. Emma is survived by her sisters Frieda Asleson Miller, Evelyn Asleson, Ethel (Phillip) Thompson, and Irene (Allen) Eckley, a brother Kenneth (MaryAnn) Kronemann, and sisters- in- law Hazel Kronemann, and Marian Peterson all of Fergus Falls. She also leaves two children, Pat (Alvin) Jouppi of Isabella, Mn., Bob (Mary) Peterson of St. Cloud, MN; four grandchildren: Marcia (Darrell) Todd, of Isabella, MN, Craig (Amy) Jouppi, of Duluth, MN.,   Matthew (Kelly) Peterson, and Kimberlie (Bob) Berger of St. Cloud, MN; great grandchildren Kjersten, Joshua, Kyrie, Josiah, Karrianna, Emma and Jeremiah Todd, Isaiah, Elias and Ana Jouppi, Micah and Josiah Peterson, Andrew and Johnathan Haas, and Caitlin, Tyler, Riley and Noah Berger. Emma was very thankful for her four years at Mill Street Residence.    She so appreciated the loving care of Diane Lepp and the capable Mill Street nursing staff as well as all her wonderful private caregivers. She felt your love and concern!  The family also thanks the Lakeland Home Care staff for easing the frequent transitions from hospital to home, and the Hospice staff for their attention to all of us these past few weeks as Mom prepared for her “new life”.
