Emma Erickson

Emma C. Erickson, 99, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.   Emma was born on October 2, 1910 in Henning, the daughter of Edolph and Amanda (Longbella) Ellingson. She attended country school in the Henning area. After school she worked at a hotel until she married in 1929. She married Roy J. Erickson on February 26, 1929 in Fergus Falls. The couple farmed in the Vining area and raised their family. In 1959, the family moved to Fergus Falls. She was formerly a member of Nidaros Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies aide and also taught Sunday school. More recently she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Emma enjoyed gospel music, listening to talk books, being outside and spending time with her family. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Roy, who died in 1970; sons, Darwin and Gary and daughter, Mary Jane Hoff and two brothers, Courtney and Gordon Ellingson. Survivors include six children: daughter, Doris (Herbert) Jacobson of Sacramento, CA, son, Roy (Margie) Erickson of Quinlin, TX, son, James (Joie) Erickson of Hebron, ND, son, Dale (Rhoda) Erickson of Monticello, MN, daughter, Elaine Hotchkiss of Erhard, MN, daughter, LaVay (Hubert) Wisness of Elk River, MN, daughter-in-law, Vicki Erickson, Greenville, TX; son-in-law, Van Hoff of Fergus Falls and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Visitation:   5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church Service:   1 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls Clergy:      Reverend Marv Abrahamson and Chaplain Harry Olson Interment:       Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Clitherall Arrangements:    Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
