Emil W. Striffler, age 92, of Fergus Falls, formerly of Brainerd, died Monday, May 2, 2016, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, six weeks after his younger sister.
Emil was born on August 17, 1923, to John and Esther (Walz) Striffler in Western Township in Otter Tail County. As a child, he loved working on the farm. He enjoyed driving the tractors and working with his horses.
On October 7, 1966, Emil was married to Ruth Bogart in Brainerd. He took wonderful care of Ruth until she got sick and he could no longer care for her at home. Emil also was a caretaker for Lucille Shaw. Over his lifetime Emil worked as a detailer and did janitorial work at Dondelinger Chevrolet in Brainerd.
Emil loved John Deere tractors, eating ice cream, riding bike, helping others and the companionship of his dog, Dandy. On April 3, 2012, he moved to PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, where he resided with his sister, Mary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Striffler; his wife, Ruth Striffler in 2005; his sister, Mary Anderson; a nephew, Jim Solin; and a niece, Kathy Striffler.
Emil is survived by his niece, Donna Solin of Fergus Falls; his nephews, Henry Striffler of Moscow, ID, David (Nora) Anderson and Dale (Carol) Anderson, all of Breckenridge; and numerous great- nieces and nephews.
