Elsie Soronen

Elsie Sophie Helen (Drechsel) Soronen, 87, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, August 20, 2012, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls. She was born March 14, 1925, in Friberg Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, to John and Emma (Rocholl) Drechsel. She attended school in Fergus Falls and has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for most of her life. On July 19, 1942, she married Carl L. Soronen in Fergus Falls, where they continued to live and make their home. Elsie worked as a nurses’ aide at Lake Region Hospital for more than 35 years and continued to do volunteer work there after her retirement. Elsie enjoyed reading, and playing cards and bingo. She was a very loving and caring Mother and will be missed by all that knew her. Preceding her in death were her husband Carl, a son Wayne, her parents, three brothers and a sister. Elsie is survived by two sons: Carl (Barb) Soronen, and Larry Soronen; three daughters: Connie (Arlan) Swenson, Carol (Don) Lyngstad, and Susan Jenson; 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
