Eloise Steenerson went home to be with Jesus on August 25, 2024, in Alta Loma, California surrounded by her family.
Eloise was born on April 14, 1930, at home on the Johnson farm in Gonvick, Minnesota to Helmer and Anna (Odegaard) Johnson. She attended country school and Clearbrook Elementary school through eighth grade and graduated from Hillcrest Lutheran Brethren School in Fergus Falls, Minnesota in 1949.
In 1951 she married Royce Norgaard and they immediately moved to Southern California. They were blessed with two children, Renee in 1952 and David in 1954. Eloise worked as a dispatcher for Industrial Asphalt for over 15 years before moving to Tucson, Arizona for five years. She moved back to California in 1984.
In 1993 she moved to Clearbrook, Minnesota to help care for her mother after her father ‘s death. In 2002 Eloise married Clayton Steenerson. They lived in Clearbrook, Minnesota until Clayton ‘s death in 2011.
In 2016 Eloise moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota where she enjoyed living in the same apartment building as her sisters, Ardith and Gwen. In November 2023 Eloise moved to Southern California to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Eloise was an amazing lady who survived two gunshots to her head while living in her home in Tucson. Although she lost an eye and had several other complications from those shots, she never looked back nor did she carry a grudge. She has always had a kind and forgiving heart. Anyone who met Eloise became an immediate friend. She loved people and was loved by all who knew her.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson, David Stein, her brothers-in-law, James Halbert and Gerald Gunderson. Survivors are her children, Renee (Ron) Stein, David (Patty) Norgaard; grandchildren, Erik (Lindsay) Stein, Lee (Doran Lan) Norgaard, Kevin (Aine) Norgaard; great grandchildren, Nikolai and Aurora Stein; sisters, Ardith Halbert and Gwen Gunderson, along with several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Brethren Church in Fergus Falls, MN on Thursday, October 24th, 2024, at 11 a.m. with a public visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church. Reverends Caleb Larson and Dale Hexum will be officiating. A short graveside service will be held at Elim Lutheran Brethren Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 2 p.m.
