Ellsworth John "Johnnie" Etten, 80, a resident of Fergus Falls, formerly of Foxhome, died Friday, August 10, 2007 at the Broen Memorial Home Short Term Stay Unit in Fergus Falls. He was born January 16, 1927, in Foxhome, MN, the son of John and Elsie (Steinbach) Etten. He was baptized and confirmed, and was a lifetime member of Foxhome Lutheran Church. He attended grade school at Riverside Country School and the Campbell Public School, and then attended the Morris Ag School. Growing up on the family farm, in Foxhome Township, Johnnie farmed with his dad, his son, son-in-law and grandsons. The operation continues today as a four generation farm. In March of 1948 he married LaVonne Foshaug and they had four children. He was an active 4H Leader, and served on numerous church boards and farming organizations. Some of his favorite things included farming, golfing, playing cards, fishing and hunting, and being a snow bird in Arizona. Most important to him was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Johnnie will be remembered by his grandchildren for giving them rides on his scooter and tickling their ears with a napkin. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Elsie, and two brothers: James and infant Etten. Survivors include his wife, LaVonne of Fergus Falls; daughter Diane (Stan) Karlgaard of Fergus Falls, and their children Tammy, Kristopher and Hope, Joshua, and Jason; son Douglas (Ann) Etten of Dalton and their children Karlo (Kathy) Etten, Jacki (Dan) Bradow, Erica Etten and Kelly Etten, daughter Darlene (Michael) Schuler of Wahpeton, ND and their children Chad (fiance` Erin) Schuler, Nathan Schuler and Eric Schuler, and daughter Denise (David) Stinson of Plattsburgh, NY and their children Katie and Leah Stinson; and seven great-grandchildren: Karyn, Ethan, John, Grant, Annie, Alec and Alexandra. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
