Ella M Sonmor

Ella M. Sonmor, 93, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Homestead Pioneer Senior Cottage.

Ella was born December 31, 1923, in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Carl and Bertina (Juven) Benson. She attended school in Fergus Falls, MN where she graduated. Ella then attended Moorhead State University where she received her teaching degree.

On November 2, 1946, she married Harold G. Sonmor in Fergus Falls, MN. Ella taught school in French; District 7 by Dalton and many years in Underwood School where she retired in 1986.

She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and the Legion Auxiliary in Ashby, MN.

Ella enjoyed quilting, volunteering at Lake Region Hospital for many years, golf, flower gardening, feeding birds, crocheting, fishing, and visiting Alabama, Florida and traveling with many of her friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Harold; sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Donald Randall; brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Katie Benson; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Russell Magnuson; special friend, Milton Erickson.

Survivors include children, Paul (Judy) Sonmor, Larry (Judy Bertram) Sonmor, Jon (Joni) Sonmor; grandchildren, Mike (Margaret) Sonmor, Brad Sonmor, Christopher Sonmor, Annie (Dan) Miles, Megan (Michael) Monroe, Jenney (Matthew) Underwood, Jamie (BJ) Kingston, Jordan (Austin) Sorrolls; great-granchildren, Elizabeth and Addison Sonmor, Caleb, Isaac and Judah Miles, Claire and Evan Monroe and Maggie Underwood and numerous nieces & nephews.

Visitation: Friday, November 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a public prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, November 25, at Our Savior’s - Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church, Dalton
