Elenore Friedrich

Elenore (Mrs. Arlo) Friedrich, 88, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at the Broen Memorial Home.
She was born at home in Eagle Lake Township on August 13, 1929, the second daughter of Sigfred and Lillie (Thompson) Swenson. Elenore was baptized and confirmed at Grue Lutheran Church. She attended school at District 114, and one year at Ashby High School.
On May 17, 1953, Elenore married Arlo A. Friedrich at Grue Church. She became a member of First United Church of Christ following her marriage and was a life-long member of the Priscilla Circle, as well as the Women’s Guild.
After raising 6 children, she cared for several families’ children and worked in Housekeeping at the Super 8 Motel. The Westridge Mall was blessed to have her as a seasonal gift wrapper for 17 years.
Elenore was a life member of VFW Post 612 Auxiliary, and served as Poppy Chairman for many years being known as “The Poppy Lady” for her many awards.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Arlo; parents; grandchildren, Lillie and William Friedrich; sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and Erwin Siems, Muriel Runningen, Frank Lundsetter, DuWayne Friedrich, Gilbert Gunderson, Carolyn Friedrich; as well as a niece and nephew.
Survivors include her children, Steven (Jeannine) Friedrich of Perham, and their daughters Holly (Kory) Leistikow, Kristofer, Fredrick, Carla (Kyle) Janecky, Kennedy, Reagan; Karen Friedrich of Moorhead and her daughter Eden; Jane (Jerry) Knutson of Fargo, ND and their children Nicholas (Kim) Knutson and Jack, Adalyn; Erica (Rob Smith); Gary Friedrich of Fargo, ND; Alan (Judy) Friedrich of Fergus Falls, and Brian (Pam) Friedrich of Moorhead and their boys Tomas and Nathan; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine (Frank) Melby, Margie (Paul) Melby, Carol (Dick) Downs; sisters-in-law, Ellen Gunderson and Delores Friedrich; brother-in-law, Elwyn Friedrich and Ruben Runningen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends Abe Sakak family and Jim Morstad family.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Living Faith Church in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend John Kilde
Interment: First United Church of Christ Cemetery, Fergus Falls
