Eleanor Marie Hegseth, 97, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Eleanor was born on March 17, 1916 in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Gilbert and Hilda (Skolrud) Holt. She attended school in Oscar Township and Fergus Falls. After her schooling, she worked as a maid for Dr. Heiberg from 1932 to 1940.
On November 14, 1940 she married Theodore Hegseth. The couple had three children, Kathryn, Theodore and David. From 1971 to 1981, Eleanor worked at the Lake Park Wild Rice Children’s Home.
Over the years, she was an active member of Hedemarken Church, where she enjoyed Ladies Aid and was superintendent of Sunday School. She was also a member of Homemakers, Hospital Auxiliary and Eagle’s Auxiliary.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Theodore; daughter, Kathryn; sister, Geneva; brothers, Wallace, Edward, Emmett and one who died in infancy.
Survivors include her sons, Theodore (Judith Ann) Hegseth of Fergus Falls, David (Deborah) Hegseth of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Susan (Brent) Boisvert, Kaare Hegseth, Erin (Brian) Nurkka, Manda (Tyler) Tumberg, Mali (Matt) Moss, Erik Hegseth, seven great-grandchildren, Erika, Cagney, Owenn, Wyatt, Tosten, Olivea, Valenten.
Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hedemarken Lutheran Church, Carlisle, MN
