Eldred Raymond Kvidt

Eldred Raymond Kvidt, 81, a resident of Fergus Falls, formerly of Pelican Rapids, died Monday, February 15, 2016 at Lake Region Healthcare.

He was born December 25, 1934, in Mahnomen, the son of Elmer and Ruby (Opdahl) Kvidt. He attended school in Twin Valley.

Throughout his life, Eldred worked in construction, was a mechanic, car salesman and a self-employed trucker.

On December 21, 1957, he married Lois Wachlin in Virginia, MN. He served in the United States Army, stationed in the Great Lakes Naval Base. In 1970, they moved to Pelican Rapids and raised their family and in 2005, they relocated to Fergus Falls.

Eldred was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, going to his grandchildren’s activities, listening to the radio, visiting with family and friends and wintering in Arizona.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Lois in 2006; a daughter, Pamela, and an infant brother.

Survivors include his children, Randy (Cheryl) Kvidt of Pelican Rapids; Jan Kvidt (Scott Booth) of Frazee; Scott (Lori) Kvidt of Fergus Falls; 10 grandchildren, Ben (Abbey) Kvidt of Zimmerman, Anna (Richard) Martyna of Sartell, Micah (Jenna) Kvidt of St. Paul, Jessica Kvidt of Detroit Lakes, Alex Kvidt of Fergus Falls, Eric Kvidt of Fergus Falls, Ali Kvidt of Oahu, HI, Matthew (Trish) Engebretson of Vergas, Anne Engebretson of Dayton, OH and Alyssa Engebretson of Pelican Rapids; four great-grandchildren, Maari and Callen Kvidt and Bodi and Ivy Engebretson; three sisters, Betty Ring (Gerald Lange) of Portage, WI, Janice Atkinson of Portage, WI, and Korella (Larry) Selzler of Dilworth; sister-in-law, Myrtle Lombard (Lowell Mitchell) of Foreston and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, February 19, 2016, at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls, with Reverend Leon Andersen officiation. A time to greet family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at East Wild Rice Cemetery in Rural Twin Valley at a later date. Olson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.
