Eldon Keith Rund, 75, of rural Fergus Falls, died unexpectedly and peacefully on August 21, 2012, at his home on Ten Mile Lake. Eldon was born on June 11, 1937, at his home to Kenneth and Margaret (Pletan) Rund, in Tumuli Township, Otter Tail County, Fergus Falls, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Prairie Lutheran Church. He grew up in rural Fergus Falls, attended Dist. #139 through 8th grade and then Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1955. At that time Eldon enlisted in the Army Reserves. On February 14, 1964, he married Jean Sperr, at Rock Prairie Lutheran Church. The two were blessed a few years later with the birth of their daughter Natalie who was born on Christmas Day. Eldon wanted to be a farmer from the time he was a little boy. Until he was able to buy some land and equipment of his own, he worked construction for Hodgeman Construction, K&G Aggregates, Burgess Construction and Quickie Transport. Finally, in the early 70's, he went to farming full time. Farming was his lifetime love. Eldon was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Ashby Legion, Farmers Union and a life time member of Rock Prairie Lutheran Church. With farming as a passion, there wasn't much down-time. He did find time to enjoy hunting, fishing, gardening, and collecting machinery, antique and toy tractors. Many hours were spent "farming" at the round table with friends in Ashby, Dalton and at the Big Chief. Eldon was a loving husband and father who devoted his life to his family. He will be missed by many. Preceding him in death were his parents Kenneth and Margaret Rund. Survivors include his wife, Jean, of rural Fergus Falls, and daughter Natalie, also of rural Fergus Falls; his siblings: David (Marie) Rund, Paul (Kitty) Rund, and Diane (Mark) Boen, all of Fergus Falls; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
