Elaine Beverly (Thunselle) Dybdal, 81, went to be with her Lord on January 24, 2018, surrounded by her family. She passed away at Aurora Senior Living, Edina, MN. Elaine had recently moved from the Fergus Falls/Dalton/Wendell area.
She was born on November 19, 1936, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Edwin and Juliet (Lillemoen) Thunselle. Elaine attended Ten Mile Lake Country School and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. She worked at the Telephone Company for a few years when she met the love of her life, Kermith Dybdal, of Wendell. They were married on June 2, 1957, and lived on the family farm. Elaine and Kermith were blessed with three children: Kevin, Mark, and Kathryn.
Elaine was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, quilter’s, ladies aid and all things church related. She was a member of Lutheran Social Services, Sons of Norway, and the Telephone Operator Alumni. She worked for Mary Rapp at her stained-glass shop in Elbow Lake and for Sun Mart in Fergus Falls.
Elaine loved life. She especially enjoyed helping her family and others. She was truly a giver of herself. She created wonderful Scandinavian goodies, many of which went to the Trinity Scandinavian Dinners. She was always baking and giving to others. A hallmark of her life was her devotion to caring for her elderly relatives and her community. She enjoyed spending time and living at Ten Mile Lake. She waterskied until she was 69 years old. She passed her love of the lake and her service to others on to her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Edwin and Juliet; and brothers, James Thunselle and Allen Thunselle.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kermith; children, Kevin (Wendy) Dybdal of Mendota Heights, Mark (Shari) Dybdal of Alexandria, and Kathryn (Richard) Mellon of Laughlintown, PA; grandchildren, Kelsey (Dana) Brakke, Landon (Jordan) Dybdal, Kyle Dybdal, Kira (fiancé Mason Savage) Dybdal; sister, Mary Lou Thunselle; as well as several nieces and nephews.
