Eileen Okerstrom

April 21, 1937 — April 25, 2008

Eileen Okerstrom, 71, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, April 25, 2008, under the care of Lakeland Hospice at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls. She was born in Leonard, North Dakota, on April 21, 1937, the daughter of Ephriam and Ella (Haugen) Thompson. After graduating from Oak Grove High School, she worked at Fargo Glass and Paint in Fargo until her marriage to Ron Okerstrom on June 6, 1959 at Leonard, ND. They lived at Linton, ND where she was employed at KEM Electric Cooperative. The couple moved to Fergus Falls, MN in 1962. She was employed at Lampert Lumber and Occidental Chemical Company. In 1978 she began working at Community First Bank, and she and Ron also owned and operated Fergus Power Pump. She retired in 1999. Eileen was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lake Region Hospital Auxiliary and volunteer, and the VFW and Eagles Auxiliaries. She enjoyed camping, spending time at the lake and spending time with family, friends and the Snow Eagle's Club. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and their activities. Preceding her in death were her husband, Ron; her parents; and one brother, Norman Thompson. Survivors include one son, Mitch (Lori) Okerstrom, and one daughter, Jodi (Paul) Stine; five grandchildren: Mariah, Terina and McClain Okerstrom, Shauna and Jared Stine, all of Fergus Falls; three brothers, Duane (Linda) Thompson of Welch, MN, Ronnie (Janette) Thompson of Red Wing, MN, and Monte (Joy) Thompson of Argusville, ND; a sister-in-law, Gloria Thompson of St. Paul Park, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Olson Funeral Home, visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
