Edwin "Ed" Brist Jr.

Edwin “Ed” Brist Jr., 76, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at his home under the care of hospice.

Edwin was born September 17, 1947, to Edwin M. and Opal (Mickelberg) Brist in Fergus Falls. He grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1965. After high school, Ed worked in plumbing and heating. He then switched careers and became a truck driver and diesel mechanic, working for Sara Lee Bakery. He retired from Sara Lee after 30+ years.

On June 25, 2011, he married Linda Hames in Fergus Falls. 

Ed was a member of the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Posse and of Grace United Methodist Church as well as AM Vets. His passion in life was the time shared with his family hunting and fishing. He loved the outdoors, having walleye fries and joking with loved ones. He had a great sense of patience he shared with many and loved to share his knowledge of things he knew with anyone who wanted to learn. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren fiercely with unconditional love. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin M. and Opal Brist; grandson, Kenny and a great grandchild.

Ed is survived by his wife, Linda of Fergus Falls; children, Shannon; Jason (Tara), Jacob, Amy (Zac), Kayla (Gabe), Doug (Ashton), Tammie (Lee) and Eleanor (Daryl); 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Opal Grunewald; Marie Powis and Roger (Pilar) Brist. Also surviving are several nephews and nieces.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2024 at Olson Funeral and Cremation Chapel in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.

Interment: Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Fergus Falls, MN
