Edward “Jake” Oliver Jacobs, 75, a resident of Burleson, Texas, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in Burleson. He was born May 13, 1934, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Oliver Jensen and Hilda (Schroeder) Jacobs. He married Hazel Lasater Savage on October 1, 1988 in Cleburne, Texas. Mr. Jacobs served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as an assembly man for Hobbs Trailers; he also farmed and worked in maintenance for Winn Dixie. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Cleburne. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Jacobs of Burleson, TX; sons: Ricky Jacobs of Burleson, and Randy (Lisa) Jacobs of Azle; a daughter, Kelly (Kevin) Gee of Cleburne; three grandchildren: Christy Jacobs, Jared Gee, and Dillon Gee; one great-grandchild, Ella Gee; a brother, Marvin (Betty) Jacobs of Henning, MN; and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Elenore Wells; two children, Ronald and Angela; and his first wife, Dorothy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Ascension Lutheran Church, 205 S. Ridgeway Dr., Cleburne, TX, the American Cancer Society, or the hospice of your choice. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Trinity-Faith Cemetery in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, with Pastor Gordon Grage officiating. Pallbearers will be Joel Jacobs, Tim Jacobs, Ken Jacobs, Paul Jacobs, Chris Jacobs, and Bruce Grage. Services will be held in Texas at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the Ascension Lutheran Church in Celburne, TX. Crosier Pearson-Cleburne Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements in Texas.
