Edward Aksamit

Edward Aksamit, 87, a resident of Rothsay, died Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. He was born January 14, 1922, on the farm in Rothsay, Minnesota, the son of Vincent and Agnes (Skolnik) Aksamit. He attended school through the 7th grade.  On January 19, 1946, he married Bernice Voshell in Rothsay. He spent his life farming in the Rothsay area. Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Adolph, Richard, Charles, Allen, and Rudolph; his sisters, Marie, Francis, Josephine, and Ludmila; and his wife, Bernice. Survivors include four sons: Dennis Aksamit, and Donald (Jeannie) Aksamit all of Rothsay, Steven (Pat) Aksamit of Prior Lake, and Ronald (Barb) Aksamit of St. Cloud; two daughters: Barbara Aksamit of Spokane, WA, and Julie (Howard) Smith of Vancouver, WA; 15 grandchildren: Shawn, Jennifer, Amy, Benjamin, Nichole, Charles, Kimberly, Sevin, Aron, Kaleb, Michael, Brian, Heather, Kyle, and Ryan; 13 great-grandchildren: Mason, Samantha, Jaden, Lily, Marley, Rook, Rohan, Reesyn, Abby, Cody, Katie, Kaleigh, and Ezekiel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation:  One hour prior to the service at the church.
