Edna Doering, 89, of Fergus Falls and formerly of Kulm, North Dakota, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
She was born February 15, 1924 at rural Forbes, North Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Johanna (Ruff) Frank. She grew up on a farm south of Kulm where she attended the local country school, Springfield #4. This is the school her husband and children also attended. Edna was baptized and confirmed in the rural Congregational Church.
On October 3, 1943 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Doering at the Doering family farm, the same date as Lawrence’s parents, Edward and Maria (Grosz) Doering were married. The home farm is where they lived until moving to Kulm in 1964. They had two children, Gordon Frank and Carolyn Grace.
Edna worked at the Kramlich Butcher shop while still on the farm. After moving to town she worked at Arts Super Value. She then went back to work at the Kramlich Locker Plant, where she loved working and felt like a part of their family.
After retiring she enjoyed being a homemaker again, and loved spending time cooking and gardening. She also took care of her disabled mother for six years.
Edna became a member of the Evangelical Church (later United Methodist) where she remained a member until the church closed in 2011.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Lawrence, a son, Gordon, a baby brother at birth, Edwin, and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn (Denny) Stoen of 412 E. Vernon Ave., Fergus Falls MN 56537; six grandsons: Larry Irion, Fergus Falls, Gregory Irion, Fargo, Michael Berg, West Fargo, Patrick Berg, Moorhead, Vincent (Rebecca) Doering, of Arkansas, and Jefferey (Jennifer) Doering of Kansas; six great-granddaughters; a brother-in-law, Clifton Bjur; a sister-in-law, Vonita Doering; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Kulm, North Dakota, with Pastor Chimezie Ukaonv officiating
