Edna Anderson

Edna Omlie Anderson, 103, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at the Lakeland Hospice House in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was born February 21, 1908, in Blair, Wisconsin with her twin sister Evelyn to Tom and Annie Omlie. She was baptized in Blair. In later years they moved to Minnesota. Edna was confirmed at and a life member of Aurdal Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls. On June 9, 1926, she was married to Julius Anderson. They farmed in Aurdal Township. She later worked for Lake Region Hospital in the laundry department for 20 years. She moved to town where she was able to live in her own home until just two months prior to her death. Edna helped organize the first Sunday School at Aurdal Church, helping teach classes, and was active in the Ladies Aid. She was a lifetime member of the VFW and past president of the Eagles Auxiliary where she was also a lifelong member. She spent a lot of time crocheting afghans, doilies, and baby afghans for gifts. She was famous for her fried chicken at the annual 4th of July party, baking cakes, and always saying “The coffee pot is always on!” She was a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed. Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers: Gilbert, Henry, Oscar, and Arnold; four sisters: Ida, Alice, Evelyn, and Agnes; her husband, Julius, in March of 1988; two infant children: Russell and Edna; a son, Joslyn Anderson in November of 2009; a daughter, Marlene Kugler, in December of 2008; a daughter-in-law, JoAnne Anderson in January of 2011; and a son-in-law, Clayton Isaacson in November 2003. Survivors include her daughter, Lorraine Isaacson of Billings, MT; a son-in-law, Eldor Kugler of Erhard; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends. Memorials are preferred to the Aurdal Lutheran Church. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
