E. Luella Schiesser, 91, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Lake Region Healthcare.
She was born on March 14, 1926, in Harvey, ND, the youngest of a family of 9, to Nels and Elise (Ekra Thorson) Hoff. Luella was baptized at Eden Prairie Country Church near Harvey, ND.
In 1931, the family moved to Fergus Falls. There she attended school District 64 in Aastad Township and District 226 in Orwell Township. Luella was confirmed in Aastad Lutheran Church.
On August 15, 1943, Luella was married to Walter Schiesser at Aastad parsonage. They farmed in Buse and Orwell Townships, and were married for 53 years. She moved to Riverbend Apartments in 2008.
Luella worked as a nursing assistant for 40 years at Lake Region Hospital, and retired in 2001.
Luella was a member of Church of Peace United Methodist in Fergus Falls. She enjoyed bible study, playing cards, bingo, and visiting with friends at Riverbend. She also enjoyed embroidery and baking. Luella was famous for her chocolate chip cookies, doughnuts, date-filled cookies, and her banana bread that she shared with everyone.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Walt; 3 brothers, Jewell, Art, and Tom Hoff; 4 sisters, Alice Zimba, Evelyn Fronning, Clara Fronning, and Lila Ness; sons-in-law, Dick Durham, and Craig Norman.
Survivors include her children, Wanda Durham, Dianne (Earl) Heifort, Wayne (Wendy) Schiesser, Renee Norman, Lee (Carly) Schiesser; grandchildren, Tammy (Chuck) Nye, Scott (Sheila) Heifort, Wayne (Sharon) Heifort, Kathy (Tony) VanWechel, Kari (Dan) Pawlik, John (Lori) Durham, Scott (Whitney) Durham, Kyle Maack, Thomas (Ali Nyberg) Schiesser, Stuart (Cassidy) Schiesser, Reba (Kraig) Cersovsky, Maggie (Ryan) Honer, Monte (Kalie) Norman, Maia Overbo, Sydney Overbo, Owen Spain, Preston Schiesser, Julia Schiesser; great-grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Nye, Cole and Kyle Heifort, Winston Heifort, Michelle Siedel, Jenna (Tyler) Lovgren, Nic and Ty VanWechel, Zane Jorgens, Hannah, Rachael, and Richard Pawlik, Steven Durham, Sara (Arnej) Duranovic, Morgan, Emma and Andrew Durham, Ashlynn and Bryer Maack, Emma, Elise, Vera & Wyatt Schiesser, Bristol, Hadley, and Danica Schiesser, Konnor and Raylee Cersovsky, Jake and Faye Honer; great-great-grandchildren, Aden Jorgens; sister, Helen Toso, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, with a 6:30 public prayer service, at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Church of Peace United Methodist in Fergus Falls

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls
