Douglas R. Marohl, of Battle Lake, passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the age of 61.
Doug was born in Breckenridge, Minnesota on November 16, 1951 to Vernon Marohl and Audrey Muehler Marohl. He grew up in Wahpeton, North Dakota graduating from high school in 1969. Doug attended North Dakota College of Science and Moorhead State University, graduating with a degree in Human Services and Social Work.
On May 12, 1973 he married Sandi Schreiber at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton. This year they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. In 1975 they moved to Fergus Falls where Doug began working at Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota. In 1996 he began working for Heartland Industries of Moorhead, MN.
In 1998 Doug fulfilled a dream of starting his own business, Midwest Community Residential Services (MCRS), in Central Minnesota. Doug devoted his career to providing services for people with disabilities. He always considered his clients, their family, and his employees as his large extended family. Doug always took the time to talk and give a smile to everyone he worked with.
Doug is survived by his wife Sandi of Battle Lake; daughter Kimberly of St. Cloud; his sons Trevor (Becky) of St. Cloud, and Travis of Moorhead. Doug adored his two grandchildren, Ella Mary and Benjamin Douglas of St. Cloud. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Vickie and Steve Klemm of Richville MN, and his father-in-law Allen Schreiber of Breckenridge MN, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Audrey Marohl, brother David, mother-in-law Mary Francis Schreiber, and his grandparents Albert and Laura Muehler and Emil and Lily Marohl.
Memorials are preferred to Special Olympics of Minnesota and Our Lady of the Lake Religious Education classes.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake
