Dorothy Ann Kjer, 92, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Barrett Care Center in Barrett, MN.
Dorothy was born on April 8, 1932, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Elmer and Julia (Sholberg) Ringquist. She grew up and attended school in Fergus Falls, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1950.
On October 19, 1957, she married Durwood Kjer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Through the years, Dorothy worked as a nurse’s aide at the Pioneer Home and in food service at the State Hospital from 1984 to 1998.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church Circle in her younger years as well as lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Dorothy loved to be outside and enjoyed gardening and going for car rides. She was an avid walker for most of her life, walking five miles a day. She was a devoted fan of Johnny Carson and never missed an episode of The Johnny Carson Show, when it was on.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Durwood, who died in 2006; sister, Elaine (Dean) Erickson; brothers, Jim and Darwin Ringquist.
Survivors include her son, Steven of Fergus Falls; daughter, Susan (Larry) Carter of TX; grandson, David Wilder of TX; sister, Carol Olson of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Andrea Ringquist as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside was held.
