Doris Shol, 84 of Fergus Falls, died Friday, December 3, 2010, at Lake Region Healthcare. She was born June 6, 1926, in Pelican Rapids, the daughter of Siem “Sam” and Anna (Anderson) Wahl. She grew up in Erhard while attending a country school through eighth grade and then attended and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. Doris was baptized and confirmed at Bagstevold Lutheran Church. On April 28, 1945, she married Bob Shol at First Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls. She worked at Woolworths in Fergus Falls for 15 years. She was active in the first Lioness Club, taught Sunday School, volunteered for New Horizons (working with the mentally challenged), and also volunteered at Lake Region Hospital. Doris enjoyed knitting, embroidery, and anything to do with crafts, dancing, playing cards, traveling, and baking and sewing for her grandchildren. She did demonstrations for dairy, meats and cheese and helped Bob with making signs for Fergus Dairy. Above all, she loved her family. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two sisters, Eunice and Lilah and two brothers, Donald and Marlo. Survivors include a daughter, Diana Pettengill of Fergus Falls; two sons, Mike (Patty) of Fergus Falls and Kim of Crookston; six grandchildren, James (Kandi) Pettengill, Debra Shol, Heidi Shol, Heather Shol, Lisa Shol and Paul Shol; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Hunter, Aiden, Aydan and Dayle; her mother-in-law, Pearl Shol, who was a special person in her life; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and many special friends.
