Doris Kvalheim

June 26, 1932 — December 25, 2008

Doris Kvalheim, 76, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Lake Region Hospital.  Doris was born on June 26, 1932, the eleventh child in a family of twelve born to John and Ida (Schmidt) Hanson in Fergus Falls. She attended elementary and high school in Fergus Falls and graduated in 1950. Doris was employed early in life at the Fergus Theater, Otter Tail County public health nurse’s office and as secretary at First United Church of Christ. Doris married Larry Kvalheim on September 14, 1963 at the First United Church of Christ in Fergus Falls and the couple had two children and raised them in Fergus Falls. She was an active member in church activities, teaching Sunday school, Release time School, bible school and involved with the Women’s Guild, circle and other church committees. She was also involved with Meals on Wheels and the Community Food Shelf program. Doris was a devoted mother and grandmother, who gave her love unconditionally and who will forever be in our memories. Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Irene Anderson, brothers, Donald and Leroy; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hanson, Phyllis Halvorson and brothers-in-law, George Botts, Bill Teberg and Alvin Schmidt. Survivors include her husband, Larry of Fergus Falls, two sons, Randy (Jane) of Otsego and Brad (Karmen) of Harrisburg, SD; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Kayla, Nathan, Krystal, BreAnna and Emma; siblings, Elfreda Botts, Olga Teberg, Violet (Cliff) Scott, Baldwin Hanson, Marvin (Nancy) Hanson all of Fergus Falls, Lucille Schmidt of Hutchinson, Lester (Dorothy) Hanson of Chula Vista, CA and Gordon (Marjean) Hanson of rural Underwood; brothers-in-law, Pat Anderson, Dennis (Sharon) Kvalheim, Dennis (Mary) Halvorson; sister–in-law, Beverly Hanson and numerous nieces and nephews.
