Doris Adeline Johansen, age 83, of Fergus Falls, formerly of Dalton, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Doris was born on October 4, 1928, in Otter Tail County near Dalton, Minnesota, the daughter of Clifford and Gladys (Thompson) Formo. She grew up and attended grade school in Dalton and then Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1946. On June 21, 1952, she married Omer Johansen at Zion Free Lutheran Church in Dalton. They made their home in and around the Dalton area. For 43 years Doris worked as a bookkeeper at the Dalton Coop Creamery, until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Through the years she enjoyed fishing, grouse hunting, and traveling, as well as spending time in her garden. Preceding her in death were her parents, Gladys and Clifford Formo; her husband, Omer, in June of 1996; brothers: Carroll, Dell, Glenn, and Gene; and sisters: Mavis Wood and Florence Hovland. Doris is survived by a sister, Clarice (Earl) Gutliph of South Port, Florida; a brother, Marvin Formo of St. Helens, Oregon; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and James Olson; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Jerome) Miranowski and Carole Formo; brother-in-law, John Hovland; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Everyone was special to Doris “Dory”. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Zion Sarpsborg Lutheran Church in Dalton, Minnesota, with burial at the Zion Cemetery in Dalton, followed by the Formo-Thompson Family Reunion at the Dalton Community Center.
