Doris E. Hanson, 69, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Broen Home.
Doris was born on October 11, 1945, in Portsmouth, Virginia, the daughter of Jack and Velma (Simpson) Schwebach.
On December 26, 1963, she married Stanley Hanson in South Mill, North Carolina. Doris and Stan lived and raised their family in Fergus Falls. Doris was a waitress and worked in many restaurants within the Fergus Falls area. Doris’ most recent job was working at Service Food.
Doris was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Eagles, Dalton Thresherman’s Association, Stearns County Pioneer Club and Greater MN 2 Cylinder Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She would do anything to help her kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren. Doris and Stan enjoyed camping trips with the family. She was an avid bowler and experienced many bowling trips and tournaments with friends. Stan and Doris also made a trip to Mexico with friends and many trips to Arizona. Doris had a gift for maintaining a beautiful flower garden and loved her beloved pugs, Sara and Buddy.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Stanley Hanson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Selmer and Marcyle Hanson; brothers, Rodney and John Schwebach; sister-in-law, Beverly Schultz-Hanson; brother-in-law, Gene Crow; and great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Sem.
Survivors include her children, LaVonne Hanson (Scott Huseth) of Elbow Lake, Stanley (Shirley) Hanson, Jr. of Fergus Falls, Mary Ann (Randy) Martin of Moorhead; grandchildren, Samuel (Jessica) Aschnewitz of Fergus Falls, Megan Aschnewitz (Tim Lewis) of Fergus Falls, Benjamin and Mackenzie Martin of Moorhead, Justin Huseth of Rolla, ND, Melanie (Ron) Rieken of Erhard, Stacey Anderson of St. Cloud, Terah (Philip) Kraft of St. Cloud, Angie Ballard of Fergus Falls; great-grandchildren, Peyton Kirkvold, Rylee Rieken, Jaydon Zenda, Brinna Rieken, Ethan Kraft, Wyatt Anderson, Rowyn Harrom, Emma Aschnewitz, Kalvin and Reid Lewis; brother-in-law, Sidney Hanson of Fergus Falls; her parents, John and Velma Schwebach of Dell Rapids, SD; sisters, Deb Crow of Dell Rapids, SD, Lisa (Leon) Busser of Colton, SD, Vicki Fischbeck of Coronado, CA, Dawn Edmonson of Tulsa, OK; brothers, Robert (Pam) Schwebach of Sioux Falls, SD, David (Shelly) Schwebach of Dell Rapids, SD and Roy (Chris) Schwebach of Dell Rapids, SD. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Doris’ family would like to acknowledge their appreciation to the caregivers that have taken such good care of Doris these past few months, the staff of Broen Home for their compassion and LB Homes Lakeland Hospice for their comfort these past few weeks.
