Doris (Seeba) Adams, 92, former Maine Township resident, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Brainerd. She was born August 12, 1917, the daughter of Fred and Lottie (Wenholm) Seeba at their home in Maine Township. She grew up in Maine Township and attended rural school. When she was sixteen her mother died, so Doris had to take over the household duties for her dad, and her brothers, Clifford and Raymond. In the fall of 1938 she worked for a family of six in Fergus Falls. On July 2, 1939, she married Clinton Adams and they made their home in Perham, Minnesota, where their daughter, Sylvia, was born. In February of 1943 Clint went to work on the pipeline in Canada, and Doris and Sylvia stayed with his parents for five months in Maine Township. On his return they moved to Alexandria where he was employed by Minnesota Motor. In 1945 they moved to Maine, where he was in partnership with Cliff, and where their daughter, Sharon, was born. After the death of her husband in 1994, Doris moved to Brainerd, Minnesota to be closer to her daughters. She resided at the Woodland Good Samaritan Apartments. She was a lifelong member of Maine Presbyterian Church where she took an active part, having served as Sunday school superintendant, and president of U.P.W. She was an active volunteer at Woodland, and also worked with the Park United Methodist needlework group in Brainerd. Doris enjoyed doing many crafts, crocheting, gardening, hunting, camping, and travelling. She was a caring, loving woman who found much enjoyment in spending time with her family. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Clinton; and her brothers, Clifford and Raymond Seeba. Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia (Robert) Kurtz and Sharon (John) Hurley, all of Brainerd; three grandsons: Michael (Heather) Hurley, Keith (Liz) Hurley, and Randall (Ariel) Kurtz; a great-granddaughter, Gwyneth Hurley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
