Dora Evelyn Brendmoen, age 87, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake, MN. She was born March 13, 1925, on a farm near Nome, North Dakota, the daughter of Jurgen and Marie (Miller) Frydenlund. She graduated from Nome High School in 1943, and then attended Valley City State Teacher’s College where she was awarded a teaching certificate. She taught in the Nome area in a one room school house for six years. On December 29, 1946, Dora married Norel Brendmoen in Nome, and they resided in Valley City, North Dakota. They later lived in Grand Forks, ND, Slayton, MN, and Ironwood, MI, before moving to Fergus Falls, MN, in 1960. During those years Dora was a homemaker and then worked for 25 plus years as a teacher’s aide in the Fergus Falls School District at Adams Elementary School. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and was also a Lioness. She loved to bowl, play cards, and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. Dora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She treasured her family and friends and took special joy in doting over her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She touched the hearts of everyone she met. Survivors include a son, Norel “Skip” (Rieva Lesonsky) Brendmoen of Irvine, CA, a daughter, Shelley (Kris) Randolph of Rochester, MN, a son, Neil (Christi) Brendmoen of Lakeland, FL; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Frydenlund of Moorhead, MN, and one sister, Fran Fischer of Renton, WA. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Norel Brendmoen, her brothers Marvin, Earl, and Donald, and her sister, Alice.
