Donna Thunselle

Donna Thunselle, 73, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, January 6, 2014, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.

She was born on August 14, 1940 in Gary, Indiana to Otto and Corinne (Boen) Richter. At the age of four, she moved with her family to the Underwood area where she grew up on the family farm by Norway Lake. She attended high school in Underwood, MN and graduated in 1958. After graduation she worked at Falls Drug.

On June 18, 1960, Donna married James E. Thunselle at Trinity Church in Fergus Falls. They began married life in Elbow Lake where she was employed at the Clinic. Later they moved to the farm they purchased in Aurdal Township. After 37 years, they moved to Fergus Falls. Donna was employed at several area businesses, including Woolworths, Fleet Farm and Lake Region Hospital.

Donna enjoyed being a member of the Car Club Supper Club. She loved going out to eat with her good friends on Thursday nights. She liked to garden and tend to her flowers. She was known for her geranium pots and other flower beds.

Donna's life revolved around her family. She had many special memories of times spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved following their sports and activities and going camping or on trips with them. She always had the coffee pot on for friends and family who stopped in to visit.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Otto and Corinne; siblings Gerald Richter and Sharon Rund; and her niece, Sheila Grothe.

She is survived by her husband, James; children Scott (Jenny) Thunselle of Fergus Falls; David (Rosa) Thunselle of Denver, CO; Kimberly (Jeff) Walvatne of Fergus Falls and Eric (Kimberly) Thunselle of Fergus Falls; ten grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Landon Thunselle; Dawson and Micah Thunselle; Ashley, Sarah and Kaci Walvatne and Justin and Jared Gullickson; sisters in law Elaine (Kermith) Dybdal, Mary Lou Thunselle, Helen Richter; and brothers in law Geoffrey Rund and Allen (Linda) Thunselle; many cousins, nieces and nephews and her special cousin, Charlotte Meskis.


Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at the Olson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend Curtis Deterding
Burial: Vang Cemetery, rural Fergus Falls
