Donna Pickett

Donna Rae Pickett passed away peacefully at home in the care of her loving husband on Monday, January 6, 2025.

Donna Rae Dunlop was born April 30, 1949, to Donald and Lorraine (Dipple) Dunlop in Grand Forks, ND. Donna attended Grafton Central High School and graduated in the class of 1967. She graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1971. She married Richard Pickett in Grafton, ND at Our Savior's Lutheran Church on May 29, 1971. They moved to Fergus Falls, MN where Donna worked at Lake Region Hospital an OB/GYN nurse for 36 years.

Donna was a member of St. James Episcopal Church where she served as treasurer, a lector, Sunday School teacher, and coordinator for the lay ministry team. She was a member of the Young Life committee and coordinated decorating banquets for many years. She was also a member of the Fergus Falls Women's Club.

Donna enjoyed watching movies and TV shows like Planes Trains and Automobiles, and The Young & The Restless. She listened to music of many different genres from Michael W. Smith to the Backstreet Boys, with 97.9 background music during her day. She adored spending time with her pets Skippy, Indy, Gus, Wojo and Bella. She liked doing jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, and anything to do with babies. Donna was an avid crafter, making items to decorate the house and give to friends. One of her passions was spending time with her homemaker group where they could be heard cackling late into the night. She was a pyromaniac who loved building huge bonfires at the lake that singed the leaves off all the nearby trees.

Preceding her in death were her father, Donald Dunlop of Grafton, ND; sister, Cheryl Dunlop of Grand Forks, ND and brother, Douglas Dunlop of Grand Forks, ND.

Donna is survived by her loving caretaker and husband, Dic Pickett of Fergus Falls, MN; mother, Lorraine Dunlop of Grafton, ND: daughter, Anna Scheidecker of Brooklyn Park, MN; daughter, Abby (Patrick) Byzewski of Vadnais Heights, MN; son, Nik (Mallory) Pickett of Hickson, ND; and grandchildren, Raegen and Jackson Pickett of Hickson, ND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Otter Tail County, Lake Region Healthcare Foundation, Young Life Otter Tail County and St. James Episcopal Church.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Olson Funeral and Cremation Chapel in Fergus Falls with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Clergy: Pastor Jim Bjork

Interment: A Private Family Burial will be held at a later date.
