Donald Eugene Lysne, 71, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday May 28, 2016, at the Broen Memorial Home after a short battle with cancer.
He was born on October 22, 1944, in Fergus Falls, the son of Raymond & Edna (Evavold) Lysne and attended school there. Don worked in a variety of places including the Fergus Falls School District and Gustavus Adolphus College in the cities.
An avid sports fan, Don especially loved his Minnesota Twins. In addition, he never missed tuning into the Gopher football or basketball games. The Vikings and mostly the Twins were on the top of his list. The local Sports Broadcaster, Craig Olson, often referred to Don as “Lucky” because of his vast knowledge of sports trivia. He was also known as Donnie or Bud.
As a grandpa, he was especially proud and bragged often of his two grandchildren. He was a gracious man, and would want all those who helped him through life, including his case workers, the staff at Lakeland, and his family at Augustana Apartments, to know just how grateful he was for their love and support. His son and his family are grateful as well. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a son Mickey; brother, Rodney; and brother-in-law, Myron Hexum.
Survivors include his son: Joel (Rosanne) Lysne, of Wahpeton, ND; two grandchildren,
Bret and Anaka; two sisters, Rosalie Albertson of Fergus Falls and Joann Hexum of Rothsay. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday June 1, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Fergus Falls, MN
