Donald F. Luhman, 80, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was born November 23, 1931, in Goodhue Township, rural Goodhue, Minnesota, the son of Fred A. and Laura K. (Duden) Luhman. He was baptized on December 20, 1931, and confirmed on March 24, 1945. He grew up in the Goodhue area, where he graduated from Goodhue High School. Following high school Don worked at the Heaney and Gorman Grocery and Locker. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1952 – 1954. On November 29, 1954, he married Ruth Ann Bartels at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Lake City, Minnesota. The couple resided in Lake City where Don was employed in the meat sales business. Don and Ruth also lived in Albert Lea and Mankato. They later moved to Fergus Falls where they owned and operated OK Hardware, and then started Luhman Real Estate. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the Church Board, and also served on the Board at Pioneer. He was instrumental in helping create Pioneer Pointe. Don enjoyed decorating for Christmas and entertaining, gardening, and especially visiting with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and was quick witted. Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Kay Vonbargon; and in-laws: Murland Buck, Sylvester Vonbargon, Marge & Charles Kuehn, and Virgil and Kathryn Bartels. Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Fergus Falls; a sister, Marcy Buck of Goodhue, MN; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and caregivers, Pam and Mark Svendsgaard, Amanda and Alexis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
