Donald Charles Warren “Don” Hauberg, 81, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls. He was born August 21, 1931, in Aurdal Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the son of Leonard and Anna (Hendrickson) Hauberg. He grew up on the family farm. Don began his travels at an early age, including joining the U.S. Army, which took him overseas. In 1953 he married Lois Koeplin. Over the years he was employed as a painter, handyman, and tinker in the Fergus Falls and Minneapolis areas. He was a member of the Fergus Falls VFW. Donny enjoyed his time on Wall Lake with family, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed dancing, spending time with his longtime special friend, Patricia Perkins, and liked fishing, and telling stories of his travels and how big his fish was. He liked baseball and cheering on the Minnesota Twins. Donny spent time tinkering with many different things. He always enjoyed a good joke. He was a people watcher who became the “door” greeter at the Broen Home. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Lois; and two brothers, Leonard R. Hauberg and Gene A. Hauberg. Survivors include his children: Dani (Robert) Thibodeaux of Kirkland, WA, and Nancy (Keith) Stender of Underwood, MN; grandchildren: Justin Thibodeaux, of Kirkland, WA, Chris (Rachel) Thibodeaux of Seattle, WA, Lisa Thibodeaux of Kirkland, WA, Cassandra Garza of Fargo, ND, and Zachary Sander-Stender, Samantha Stender, and Tabitha Stender all of Underwood, MN; two great-grandchildren: Sasha and Ruby Thibodeaux, both of Kirkland, WA; and his good friend, Patricia Perkins. There will be a private family service at a later date.
