Donald L. Funkhouser 83, of Dalton died Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
He was born November 24, 1931, in Fergus Falls, the son of Frank and Blanche (Erickson) Funkhouser. He began his education in Campbell and later attended Morris Ag School. Following his schooling, he served in the U.S.Army.
On October 25, 1958, he married Betty Foshaug at Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church, Dalton. Most of his working career was spent in the road construction business.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Burt Younger; an infant sister, Lorraine; brother-in-law, Glen Herman; mother and father-in-law, Myrtle and Alvin Foshaug; brothers-in-law, Stanley Foshaug and Richard Foshaug; and sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Otto Olson.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; daughter, Jill (Pete) Swendsrud of Staples; son, Jason (Callie) Funkhouser of Evansville; grandsons, Logan, Jacob and Isaac Swendsrud and Ben Funkhouser; granddaughter, Bailey Funkhouser; siblings, June (John) Kvam of Fergus Falls, Carol (Wayne) Brendefur of Fergus Falls, Curtis (Gloria) Funkhouser of Alexandria, and Neal (Barb) Funkhouser of Fergus Falls; sister-in-law, Ardyce Foshaug of Evansville, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2014, at Olson Funeral Home
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2014, at Our Saviors Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church, Dalton, with Military participation by Ashby American Legion
