Donald Walter Fick, 85, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Fergus Falls.
He was born on May 8, 1938, in Cass County, Fargo, ND, the son of Walter A. and Edna (Schleske) Fick. Don was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. He attended Lincoln Elementary School, Washington Junior High School, and graduated from Roosevelt Park Senior High School in 1956.
Don joined the National Guard for one year from 1955 to 1956. In 1956, he joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Lackland AFB for one year, and three years at Lake Charles AFB in Louisiana. Don was honorably discharged in 1960.
On February 7, 1959, Don married Donnis L. Lindberg. They had four children: Randy, Robin, Renee, and Rhonda.
On September 3, 2016, Don married Clare Marie Lanzano at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She was an Irish Catholic girl from New York who loved to have a good time. Don and Clare had a wonderful time throughout their marriage. They had 2 lovable puppies, Angel and Bella. Don loved Clare, Angel, and Bella very much. They had lots of love and laughter.
Don worked at 7UP Bottling Co., and as a plant foreman at Occidental Petroleum in Fergus Falls. He also owned and operated Don Fick Construction doing light commercial and residential construction.
Don was a member of the American Legion Post 30, Eagles Club, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Edna Fick; his first wife, Donnis; brothers, Wilbert, Orlin, Gordon and Gerald; sisters, Marlys and Donna, and step-daughter, Carolann.
Don is survived by his wife, Clare; his four children, Randy, Robin, Renee (Jerry), Rhonda (John); eight grandchildren, Nick Cappola (Rachael), Cole deCathelineau (Becky), Joel Beebe (Jenny), Derek Grams, Jesse Fick, Jacob Fick, Stefanie Grams and Jenna Beebe; four great-grandchildren, Brayden, Olivia and Aubrey Cappola and Calvin deCathelineau; step-children, Philip (Ana), Guch, and Clare (Troy); brother, George (Beverly) Fick, and several nieces and nephews.
Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023 at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
