Donald Husfeldt

Donald Duane Husfeldt, 83, died January 25, 2024 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, MN under the care of Knute Nelson hospice.

Don was born on October 28, 1940, near Henning, MN to Paul and Edna (Hagen) Husfeldt. He grew up around the Henning area and graduated from Henning High School in 1958. Following high school Don joined Lampert Lumber in Alexandria and was in the lumber industry all his working days. He transferred to Fergus Falls Lampert Lumber in 1961 and remained there for many years. He retired from Stenerson Lumber in 2004. He enjoyed helping his customers plan their remodeling projects and dream homes and seeing them to completion.

On November 5, 1960, he married Liz Ehlers, and they had three daughters. In 1975 they built a home in Bayview Heights near Fergus Falls, MN where they lived for 47 years. Don did much of the construction on the home himself. They enjoyed their yard, vegetable and flower gardens, and a goldfish pond. Don loved the outdoors and fishing around the Otter Tail County area. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, especially at the snowmobile shack near Lake George in Northern Minnesota. He loved his Goldwing motorcycle and took many trips with Liz and friends, often in the rain it seemed. Don enjoyed traveling with favorite destinations to Mexico, the BWCA and the North Shore of Minnesota. Don went on many camping trips across the county with his family and was an expert at making a good campfire. Don and Liz spent several winters in Texas after retirement. Don's greatest joy was spending time with his family, grandkids, and great grandkids, those times were special to him. He was a remarkable husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for his kindness, easy-going personality, and smile.

Don is a current member of Zion Lutheran Church, and a former member of the Lions Club and the Jaycees. He was also a former volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Liz; daughter, Sandy Paulson; daughter, Kathy Husfeldt; daughter, Sue Husfeldt; granddaughter, Allison Paulson (fiancé, Jared Steen); grandson, Aaron (Miranda) Paulson; great-granddaughters, Adalynn, Kinley, and Leighton; brother, Larry (Eldora) Husfeldt; brother-in-law, Brad (Dee) Ehlers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church.
