Dolores Rogahn, 89, formally a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at the CentraCare Health System in St. Cloud. Dolores was born in Canistota, South Dakota on August 8, 1922, the daughter of Sargent Eugene Hunkins and Mary Josephine Hurley Hunkins. She lived with her father, sister and brother near Campbell, MN and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Dolores graduated from Campbell High School in 1940, attended college in Fergus Falls and worked as a Nursing Assistant in Fergus Falls and Golden Valley, MN. On January 3, 1941, Dolores was united in marriage to Edwin Frank Rogahn at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in rural Wheaton. To this union were born two children, Joan Ellen and Cody Alan Edwin. Ed and Dolores farmed west of Tintah, Minnesota. The family enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and Florida. Dolores always had a large garden and flowers while living on the farm. She loved to cook, bake, read, sew and enjoyed playing cards. Dolores was an avid reader and she participated in Bible Studies regularly. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for over 20 years and was a member of the LWML. Edwin and Dolores moved to Fergus Falls in 1981. Dolores is survived by sister, Dorothy Halverson of Frazee, MN and brother, Clifford Nelson of Philadelphia, PA. Dolores is also survived by her son Cody Rogahn of Glenwood, MN. Granddaughters Jessica Schimpff of Chicago, IL and Johanna Schimpff of Seattle, WA as well as her grandson Joshua Schimpff of Vienna, VA, along with his wife Teresa and their daughter Julia Schimpff. Her husband, Edwin, passed in 1981 and daughter, Joan, passed in 1988.
