Dennis LeRoy Tysver

Dennis LeRoy Tysver, 71, a resident of Fergus Falls, died on Saturday, March 23, 2013, in Fergus Falls, under the care of Hospice.

Dennis was born on November 13, 1941, in Sisseton, SD, the son of Vern and Arlene (Myers) Tysver. He grew up in Fergus Falls and attended Washington High School.

He married Connie Raasch in November of 1960 and they divorced in 1971. In 1987 he married Cinda Langbehn, with whom he spent the best years of his life. They loved their home on Jewett Lake and were the happiest when entertaining family and friends. Dennie never failed to take his guests for a “cruise” on his pontoon and loved doing it! When he wasn’t doing that he was “cruising” on the golf cart with his numerous grandkids.

When not working at his job of 35 years as gambling manager at the Eagles club, Dennie enjoyed going to the “Corner” where he played cards and shot pool with his buddies. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching sports on TV, especially the Nascar races. He always kept busy and seemed he was always fixing or making something.

Over the years, Dennie battled many forms of cancer. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1995, which spread to his spine. He was given less than a 5% chance to survive, but he fought hard and won the battle. Then ten years later, in 2005, he was diagnosed with throat cancer, 2008 with colon cancer, and with liver and lung cancer in 2009. He never complained, he just lived with what was given to him.

Preceding him in death were his father, Vern, brother, Gary, and son-in-law, Chip Saxton.

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 26 years, Cinda of Fergus Falls; two daughters, Sheri Kenyon of Sartell, MN, and Kim (Bob)Wiese of Amery, WI; mother, Arlene Tysver of Fergus Falls; two sisters, Pamela (Richard) Peterson of Pelican Rapids, and Shirley (Tom) McManus of Palm Desert, CA; three stepchildren, Dawn Saxton of Ashby, MN, Kevin (Kim) Langbehn of Fergus Falls, and Sharleen Langbehn (Pat Burns) of Fergus Falls; 14 grandchildren, Missy (Jason) Brandner, Erik Kenyon, Daniel Kenyon, Joshua (Stacy) Sporre, Nicholas Wiese, Shawna Wiese, Christopher Wiese, Sean Saxton, Gavin Saxton, Sarah Langbehn, Seth Langbehn, Sydney Langbehn, Mickael Burns and Michelle Burns; and six great-grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his quiet and gentle mannerisms and for his unbelievably courageous battle with cancer. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial service: 1:30 pm Tuesday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
