Demytra Schroeder

Demytra Anyen “Met” Schroeder, 59, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was born October 12, 1951, in Mora, Minnesota, the daughter of Forrest and Genevie (Miller) Smith. She grew up in Hinckley where she attended school, graduating from Hinckley High School in 1969. On January 3, 1970, she married Donald F. Schroeder in Hinckley. She later attended NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND, graduating in 1989 with a Computer Programming degree, and in 1991 from the OTA program, where she was at the top of her class with a 4.0 GPA. Since 1997 she had worked for Prairie Community Services in Fergus Falls. In April of 2010 she was diagnosed with AML (a form of leukemia) and fought hard through chemo and a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant. Her family gives special thanks to her sister, Marilyn, for her donation of the gift of life given to Met. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren – baking and planting. She also enjoyed reading and collecting treasures, mostly to share with her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, and a son-in-law, Bradley Goff. Survivors include her longtime companion, Clifford Budgett Jr. of Fergus Falls; her children: Trever (Sandee) Schroeder of Hinckley, Angela (Cory) Fiedler of Fergus Falls, Genna (Douglas) Pelletier of Fergus Falls, and a step-daughter, Bernadette (Chris) Clave of Seattle, WA; her grandchildren: Travis Schroeder, Kursti Buzzell, Tristan Schroeder, Jason McLevis, Derek Mann, Chaz Mann, Keegan Mann, Anyen Fiedler, Alyse Fiedler, Sydney Fiedler, Elle Fiedler, Kenneth Goff, Savannah Pelletier, and Leslie Pelletier; two great-grandchildren: Addysin Schroeder and Aliza Buzzell; and her siblings: Marilyn (Jim) Anderson of Hinckley, Chrysie Marsh of Forest Lake, Corrilla (Terry) Clark of Hinckley, Kim (Steve) Lange of Pine City, Densie (Bill) Goodreau of Oklahoma City, OK, and Gayle (Scott) Currie of Sandstone, MN. Demytra was a caring mother, an active grandma, and a dear sister and friend. She was a giving person in her family life, as well as in her career in healthcare. She will be deeply missed. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
