Delores Mae Johnson

Delores Mae Johnson, age 95, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.

Delores was born on September 19, 1920, to Charles C. and Jane (Holden) Glorvigen at Wright’s Memorial Hospital in Fergus Falls. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she became a member. Delores attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Washington High School in 1938.

On September 19, 1943, Delores married Harlin E. Johnson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They lived in Orwell Township and in 1969 they moved to Fergus Falls, where they both worked. Over the years, she was employed at the Scott-Burr Store, Woolworths and School District #544, including #935 Special Education Cooperative, retiring in 1983. Their lives continued together for sixty-seven years, until Harlin died in 2011.

Delores was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the WELCA Organization and Ladies Bible Study. In the earlier years of her life she was a member of the Orwell Sunshine Circle and the Homemakers Club.

Delores especially enjoyed the grandsons’ sports, reading, crocheting and crossword puzzles. Watching baseball and bowling on television were highlights. She was also on a bowling team for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jane Glorvigen; her husband, Harlin Johnson; one grandchild; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Lloyd Glorvigen; and a sister, Marion Cassel.

Delores is survived by her three children, Peter (Jan) Johnson of Battle Lake, Jerry (Sharon) Johnson of Fergus Falls, and Nancy (Steve) Loeffler of Fergus Falls; nine grandchildren, Luke (Genie) Loeffler, Eric Loeffler, Todd Johnson, Travis (Lynn) Johnson, Terence (Chris) Johnson, Shawn (Shannon) Johnson, Holly Johnson, Blake (Janelle) Johnson and Brent (Sonja) Johnson; fifteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
