Delores L. (Dee) Hoffmann, 88, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake.
Dee was born on January 9, 1928, in Fergus Falls to Edward and Amelia (Lillestrand) Frees. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls. She attended school and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. After graduation, she attended the University of Minnesota and earned her Medical Lab Technician degree.
Dee worked at the clinic in Fergus Falls, where she met Robert F. Hoffmann. They were married on June 9, 1951, at Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls. After the couple married, she left her job to raise their family. Her years were spent raising her four children and being active in the community and her church.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls. Her church circle group was very important to her. She enjoyed Bridge Club and golf and was a Fergus Falls Otter through and through. She was a great cook and baker and loved spending time on Pickeral Lake, spending her summers and retirement years there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Amelia Frees; her husband, Robert Hoffmann, who died in 2008; and a brother, Donald Frees.
She is survived by her children, Bruce Hoffmann of Fergus Falls, Scott (Jewell) Hoffmann of Brainerd, Sue (Barry) Shonblom of Moorhead, and Mark (Jennifer) Hoffmann of Maple Grove; nine grandchildren, Brandon (Mark) Lindquist, Nicholas Hoffmann, Seth Englestad, Mollie Hoffmann, Steve Hoffmann, Michael (fiancé Kari Lastine) Shonblom, Jason Shonblom, Sam Hoffmann and Katerina Hoffmann; four great-grandchildren, Isaac and Abigail Engelstad and Dorthea and Loretta Lindquist; a sister, Virginia (David) Breuer of Fargo; a brother, David (Marianne) Frees of Ottertail Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls.
