Delores Durner

Delores Ann Durner, 89, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Friday, September 23, 2011, at the PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Delores was born to Adolph and Alma (Wengren) Harthun on April 24, 1922, in Dane Prairie Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. As a child Delores attended School District #43, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1940. After working for the FBI in Washington, D.C. for three years, Delores returned to Fergus Falls. She was employed at Philip R. Monson Law Office and Rufer Law Firm for a total of 35 years. Delores was a legal secretary and she retired in 1984. Delores married Darwin H. Durner on September 3, 1966, at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and was active in the ladies circle groups. Delores was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Her hobbies include dancing, playing cards, and enjoying the company of friends over a cup of coffee. Delores was blessed with a happy disposition. She had a wide smile and was always eager to talk. While at PioneerCare if you came to visit, the question would be “Where’s Delores?” for she would go “visiting”, wheeling down the halls with a smile and a wave of hand to all she would meet. Her parting words would always be “Thanks for coming.” Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Darwin, in 1976, her foster sister, Elsie Pederson, and brothers-in-law, George Olen and David Riess. Delores is survived by three sisters-in-law: Delores Olen of Long Lake, MN, Jeanette (Lloyd) Keller of Tintah, MN, and Joyce Riess of Elk River, MN; four nieces: Kimberly O’Connor, Holly Bauer, Debra Prazak, and Patricia Kubicka; two nephews: Lon Keller and Kyle Keller; and two cousins, Jan Law and Hazel Stubbs. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls Clergy: Reverend Roger Hanson Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery in Fergus Falls Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
