Dee Norris, 67, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at her residence under the care of Knute Nelson Hospice.
Dee Ann Norris was born October 24, 1956 to Delvin Thomas and Valjeanne Ruth (Larson) Norris in Kansas City, MO. She attended John F. Kennedy Elementary school and Washington High School in Kansas City, KS. After high school, Dee attended the Fergus Falls Junior College for two years. She was a Flight Attendant for TWA/American Airlines from 1978 to the present.
Dee's deep faith was central to her entire life. She loved God and she loved her family very much. Dee had a servant's heart and her gift of hospitality was evident in every over the top, themed celebration she hosted. Dee was always mindful of others' needs, intentionally loving them and finding ways to meet needs they didn't even realize they had. She supported her church and youth programs through prayer and generous funding of their needs (like providing a bus!). She wanted those often overlooked to know they were loved and valued by providing special spaces that were fun to gather in, often making suggestions for things to add to the youth rooms. She knew the best way for people to see Jesus was to love them like he did and she lived that out through her words and her actions.
Dee was a woman of excellence, always going above and beyond. Her career as a 1st class flight attendant suited her well and she received countless commendations, honors, and the opportunity to serve on a presidential tour with the Bush administration.
Dee was immensely instrumental in building a foundation of faith in the lives of her nieces and nephews, challenging them to memorize verses to earn a private plane trip and all-expenses paid week at her condo in St Louis as one demonstration of the value of God's Word. She always invested in her family, coming alongside them to help and support them in any way she could.
Dee loved to bake for others, and all of her family shares memories of baking with her and enjoying her delicious banana bread and strawberry jam. She always kept a freezer full in case anyone stopped by or helped in any way (just like her mom always did).
Even in her last weeks, suffering with cancer, Dee did not want the attention on herself. She would ask her wonderful Hospice nurses if they needed anything and kept chocolate muffins well stocked to share every time they came. She was very thankful for the loving staff at Knute Nelson.
There aren't enough words in the world to convey the impact Dee had on her family. Her life blessed all that knew her and we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the depth of love she shared. Dee would end every special card with her signature "GBYMB" (God bless you my beloved) and that is exactly how she made others feel. Beloved by her, beloved by Jesus. Song of Solomon 3:4 says "I have found the one whom my soul loves." Dee is with her Savior now, the one her soul loves~
Preceding her in death were her mother, Valjeanne Norris; father, Del Norris; brother, Larry Norris, and sister, Vicki Bublitz.
Dee is survived by her brother, Scott (Diane) Norris and dear friend, Dave Homes. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins that she held closely.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to CrossRoads Church Fergus Falls/ Youth.
A private family graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls.
