David Victor Petterson, 46, a resident of Fergus Falls, died at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, under the care of Lakeland Hospice. He was born April 13, 1963, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Victor and Janet (Torgerson) Petterson. He grew up in Fergus Falls Township, attending school at District #1407, Madison Elementary School, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1981. He was baptized and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. For almost 27 years David was employed as night manager at the Service Food Store in Fergus Falls. In addition, he enjoyed helping with the family farm near Elizabeth. On May 17, 2008, he married Lanette Priem at the family farm, and they made their home in Fergus Falls. His hobbies included hunting and tournament fishing. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan. David was good at fixing and tinkering. He loved all things outdoors, especially snowmobiling and four wheeling. He had a good sense of humor and also enjoyed playing cards. David was an extremely kind man. He was an active member of Ducks Unlimited, and lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club. He was a lifetime member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. Survivors include his wife, Lanette of Fergus Falls; his parents, Vic and Janet Petterson of Fergus Falls; a sister, Kim (Jeff) Lotzer of Fargo; a brother, Jon (Michele) Petterson of Elizabeth; nieces and nephews, Autum and Lindsey Petterson and CJ and Jacob Lotzer; and his dogs, Speedy and Freda.
