David T. Formo, 89, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.
David was born on April 22, 1924 near Dalton, MN, the son of Sam and Myrtle (Thompson) Formo. He grew up near Dalton and attended school District #9 in St. Olaf Township. He worked in the area for area farmers and was especially known for his horse sense, training and caring for them.
He then entered the United States Army and was a M.P. stationed in New York. Upon his discharge he enrolled at a trade school in Little Falls, MN where he graduated top of his class as a brick mason.
On November 27, 1948 he married Eunice Hegstad in the parsonage in Dalton by Reverend Melby. He worked as a brick layer, and became a foreman for different companies, living throughout the Midwest. In 1985 he retired and returned to Fergus Falls where they have lived since. In 2010 he became a resident at the Minnesota Veterans Home.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran church. He was also a member of the Local Union 15. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his dogs.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, Milton, Kenneth and Richard and a son, Stan.
Survivors include his wife, Euni of Fergus Falls; granddaughter, Heather Hofstrand of Perham; three great-grandchildren, Kylie, Raymond and Michael all of Perham; two sisters, Jeannette Williams and Sally (Joe) Christenson all of Fergus Falls; one brother, Andy (Pat) Formo of Fergus Falls and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
